Choose one of the 5 lessons that Eddies learns. What does he learn? What are your thoughts on the lesson and why?

The Blue Man - The first person Eddie meets in heaven is the blue man. The blue man teaches Eddie two very important lessons. The first lesson he learns is that everything is connected and the second is road safety. I believe that eveerything is connected to a certain extent - not every little thing is connected however many things are. I also believe that road safety is important as road safety saves lives. If Eddie knew more about road safety when he was younger than the blue man would not have died the way he did.

What is the main thing that stands out for you in his comments about the "real Eddie"? - Did you realise that eddie was an actual person?

The main thing that stands out to me within Mitch Albom's writing about the "real Eddie" is the fact that the story was bassed completely on a real person and family member of Mitch within a part fictional part true situation and surrounding. I think that Mitch Albom has put a lot of thought into relating a real character into a fictional storline that also relates to the "real Eddies" life time experiences.

What do you think you are like at essay writing? How confident are you? Explain.

I believe my skills at essay writing are to an average standard. I dont tend to have too much difficulty to write on a given topic and feel reasonable confident about our up-coming essays in our external exams.

Choose one important symbol in the film and explain why you think it is used, what it relates to and your thoughts.

20 - The number 20 is used numerous times within the film. The main function of the number within the film is to represent the time that Lola has to find the money for Manni. The use of a number as a key symbol is ideal within a film as there are many different ways it can be expressed. In the film it is shown by numerous clocks and watches, shown on the roulette wheel and also twenty minutes of "film time" is filmed in real time, and the ability to be able to show the symbol in many different ways really expresses the symbol dominantly. I think this is a very effective symbol within the film and also has been used very wisely.

Choose one of the sequences, What does the way the sequence is filmed tell us about a main idea?

Lola wins the money at the Casino
-In the casino scene there are many different ways the scene is filmed that tells us about a main idea. The main idea that is expressed in this scene is the fact that Lola seems to posess some strange form of "powers" that allow things to go her way and from the very begining of the scene her "luck" or "powers" are shown. When Lola walks up to the front door to pay her money for her chips she is short of the ammount of money required and also dressed completely informal which is unnapropriate for entry, however despite these factors Lola is given admittance and enters into the Casino and heads to the Roulette wheel. Lola puts her money on number 20(which resembles the 20 minutes she has to find the money and save Manni) and wins once. Luck or more than luck??? but there is more...... Lola then once more puts all her money on number 20 a second time, the croupier spins the wheel and while spinning Lola screams pearcingly smashing glasses around the room and causing everyone in the casino to cover their ears, The wheel slowly spins to a stop on number 20. All these activites contribute to the main idea of Lola's "Powers".

What are your thoughts on the following phrases?

All endings are also beginnings
- I believe the phrase all endings are also beginnings in an accurate statement as with the ending of every circumstance, event or activity is the beginning of something new. For example, when you finish school you begin either University or a full time job, and even when you die many people believe there is an afterlife but even if there is no afterlife it is "the beginning of the end".
Another common phrase used with the same meaning is "when one door closes another door opens."

No story sits by itself
- I believe that this phrase is also correct as no story/life sits by itself, there are also other factors and people that contribute to that story or have a different look over the same particular events. Within one story there are many others that run parallel to and branch off that particular event.

What do you think about the idea of controlling or manipulating time? If you could, what (if anything) would you change?

- I believe that the idea of controlling or manipulating time is a rather unrealistic topic however through film and the ability to be able to make 'anything happen' I believe that it can be a very interesting and catcy topic. For many years the idea of changing or manipulting time has been used in film, and with each film the reasons for the manipulation is different for example, in Run Lola Run it is used to slow time down, and in other films it is used to go back in time to change the outcome of an event. I dont believe if I could controll or manipulate time I would change any specific thing however it would be a wonderful "power" to possess.
