Manni and Lola - First impressions and why?

My very first impressions of Lola and manni were that they were very "different" and rugged people. Lola with red hair and the unusual ability of being able to smash glass by screaming definately represents a character that is abnormal to people generally seen in films, however this is the appearance the director of this film has adopted. Many things in this film are the opposite to what is generally seen or expected including the actions of the characters. Lola seems to be the stronger of the two as shown when Manni is crying about the loss of the money and Lola is trying to keep him calm. An unexpected part of the film was when Lola took her father hostage and ordered to have the money handed over to her, and this definately changed my impression of Lola as I didnt realise she would go as far as taking her father hostage and threatening to shoot him.

You have made some thoughtful comments here about Lola in particular - they'll come in useful when we look at character in detail.

'Many things in this film are the opposite to what is generally seen or expected including the actions of the characters' - this is very true indeed.
